Competition Format

The competition will be run in three stages:

Stage 1

Fifty bands will be accepted for the competition. Each band will get a listing on the Climbthetail.com website in the order the applicartions are received.

As soon as the entry list reaches 50 the entry process will cease.

The MySpace profile views total, plays total and friends totals will be noted for each band and the competition will commence.

Should any bands subsequently drop out of the competition we may invite more entrants. We will announce this on the website and via a MySpace bulletin. The first eligible entries received will be accepted.

Nine bands will be selected to go through to stage 2.

Selection process details

Stage 1

The maximum possible points total will be 100.

The points will be awarded as follows:

Points will be awarded based on the increase on the bands' MySpace figures since the competition start date. 100 points will be awarded for the best results and the other bands will receive points calculated as a percentage of this figure.

Stage 2

The maximum possible points total will be 200.

1. MySpace Assessment: Points will be awarded based on the increase on their figures since the competition start date. 100 points will be awarded for the best results and the other bands will receive points calculated as a percentage of this figure.

2. Text Vote: The other 100 points will be awarded from the number of text votes received. See the Text Vote page for further details. 100 points will be awarded for the best results and the other bands will receive points calculated as a percentage of this figure.

The Final

Each band will play up to four songs in a set of no more than 20 minutes. Bands will play in the reverse order of their positions in the bands table. (Band number six plays first).

The winner will be decided from their performances on the night.

The judging panel will comprise representatives from the sponsoring companies and others who may be invited by the organisers. Details will be announced later.
